What advice would I give to someone writing their first scientific paper?

My advice would be to first pick a subject that you will have a strong argument about. Then put aside a lot of time for research. Getting much research will be a key factor with writing a good report.  The most important part of writing this paper will be to come up with your thesis statement that will have three points discussed in it. The rest will be easy as you just start putting it all together. Follow all your class instructions and there will be plenty of help in any area you feel weak in. If you have gathered enough research the hardest part will be deciding what parts to put in and what parts to leave out. Oh yea learn all about citing references and when and where to do it. End your scientific paper with a conclusion that will leave your reader wondering or wanting for more. After I finished my scientific report and I sat back and read it all, I felt as though my readers would take my side of the argument after they read my paper.  The funny thing is that before I started my paper I was on the other side untill I started all my research. After the research I was on the opposite side of what I first thought when I picked my topic. Pretty interesting ha?  Good luck everyone!

How do I feel now that I'm almost done with my final project?
 Lol well believe it or not I'm not happy with my report at all. I'm changing everything around at this last minute, I just didn't like any thing about the way I had my report. So when I'm done with the new one tomorrow on the dead-line I will read both and choose the best one and hope for the best. I didn't think I had a good argument to begin with and then my order wasn't following my thesis, grrr.  I have enjoyed all my college composition classes, they are always my favorite. I will always be writing something for the rest of my life so these classes are always the icing on the cake. Good writing shows you are educated and gains you respect as well.  Almost all of our college classes will require some type of final paper to be written. And should I forget how to do something proper then I'll always my handbook for reference. I think we had a wonderful class with good classmates who were kind and helpful to everyone. The seminars were a blast and the professor was an excellent teacher who cared about all of the students. As this class comes to an end next week, I want to say Merry Christmas to all my classmates and professor and much success with your future classes here at Kaplan University.

Well I finally got all the Christmas decorations up, inside and outside. Wow I just realized another fast term at Kaplan University is just about over, with 2 weeks left for this one, Boy the time seems to really just fly by . On January 8th it will be my 1 yr anniversary since I had the Gastric by-pass operation. They say once you hit the one year mark you will stop losing the weight now. However if you still wanted to lose more weight than you would have to do it like all the others with exercise. To date I've lost 92 lbs. (was 242 day of operation, now 150lbs)Actually I wouldn't mind if another 10 to 20 lbs came off, however most of my family members say if I lose any more weight then I'll look too skinny. I have been blessed with great elasticy of my skin, still not one stretch mark nor any extra skin that would need surgery to come off. I kind of figured I wouldn't have a problem with that before hand since during my two pregnancies I never got stretch marks either. The whole operation and recovery period went rather smoothly for me, I was in bed less then a week and home from the hospital in two days. I was back to my normal routine of everyday life after the first week. However I have heard from most people who have this procedure that they have it much more difficult with recovery and more surgery needed to remove extra skin from weight loss. So I'm very thankful to the Lord for such a smooth transition from day one. I feel like a whole new person, like I have a second chance at life. I would reccomend this procedure to anyone. I fought for 5 yrs with my Insurance company to be approved for it. I kept appealing every time I was refused and never gave up, and it paid off. I knew someone who was approved within a year for the procedure, which is the normal amount of time it takes for most seeking this procedure, she was also over 300lbs, which is what they are looking for.  It's a wonderful feeling to be able to walk from point A to point B and not feel like I'm grasping for breath so badly. It's also nice to be able to sit Indian style again,  and now able to clip my toenails with ease, put my shoes on with ease, and not worry whether or not I'll fit in a chair I go to sit in.Lol. I use to snore very loud, sometimes so loud it would wake myself up. Now my daughter says I never snore. :) Everything just feels so much better. For me this was a miracle come true. I went from size 22 ( in somethings size 24) to size 10 pants now and size 7 in dresses. Merry Christmas to everyone!

Well Thanksgiving is behind us with Christmas ahead of us. My main concern is that we don't lose focus here as to who's birthday this is~! Happy Birthday Jesus is what I say.  And if that offends anyone to hear that then just don't read it. I don't care about being politically correct~! This country was founded on God, and it really bugs me how little by little they are managing to get rid of any thing religous we have left.  Ok enough venting for me Lol. I just got home from my parents home; my mom is back home from the hospital and after two stents in her arteries, she is doing ok. Now I have to hurry and catch up with all my school work before it's too late. A little extra yoga will help my mind from stressing over it. Getting the Christmas decorations up is also important, however it's taking back seat at the moment. For me sometimes this time of year can get a little hectic with so many things needing to get done. For me I write a list every day of the things I need to accomplish and just try to go down the list and complete them. I don't always finish everything on my list, but I'm happy if I complete most of them. the leftovers go on tomorrows list or the next days list until I eventually get them done. Time management is also very important this time of year for me. As  long as I remember to do these things in a timely way; I find my stress level is in tact. I would also like to squeeze in some doctors appointments by the end of the year. From what my husband tells me, in January our health benefits are all going to change and it's not going to be as good as what we have now. Well this is all the time I have for now, see you all here next week.

Well I'm sitting here thinking about all the work involved with getting all the Christmas decorations out and up. My 15 year old daughter is sitting here telling me to hurry up and get started so she can go out with her friends. I would much rather go shopping than put the decorations up. Of course you need money to do that, Ha ha. Of course when the tree is all up and the ornaments are all on and the rest of the decorations are up, our house is so pretty. We all love the Christmas spirit we feel this time of year. All the kids in our family and extended family are teenagers or above so the shopping this year will basically be gift cards for everyone, since they all seem to love that gift the the most. Kind of takes the fun out of shopping, and wrapping. We have a tradition in our family with Christmas ornaments. We all go to Grandma's house and each family has a child pick a ornament from grandmas tree and we get to keep it, the only requirement is we have to write their name and the year somewhere on the ornament. Grandma has all the coolest ornaments, like something you'd see in a big department store on display on her tree. In my family the girls take turns every year on who picks the ornament. The parents are not allowed to tell them which ones to pick. This has been a tradition that my mom started 30 years ago. Grandma has just informed all the families that this year she is not putting any Christmas tree or any decorations up due to her son ( my brother) dying in July. I know my daughters are already saddened by that, I suppose the other familes are too. My brother was 51 years old when he died of a heat stroke in July of this year. I suppose I can understand where my mom is coming from and all, however I wish there was something I could do to help her feel better. My older sister has already said they'll skip going to moms house this year, which I think is awful. My dead brothers family is also skipping the event this year, so who knows what it will be like for the rest of us, however I know no matter what-
 we will make the best of it and be as happy as we can that we still have my parents here with us to celebrate another Christmas! Merry Chrisrtmas to Everyone and a Happy New Year too~!
